Why study in Dubai?
Dubai is the shortest move abroad an Indian student can make: a few hours by air, English throughout, and a student visa the university sponsors rather than one you apply for yourself. The question worth asking is not the visa but the qualification, because Dubai providers range from branch campuses of established universities to vocational centres awarding diplomas.

Cost of living
Roughly AED 4,000 to AED 8,000 per month including accommodation. Budget housing in Deira, Bur Dubai or Mirdif starts around AED 1,500 a month, while Al Barsha, Dubai Silicon Oasis and the academic districts run higher.

Dubai student visa requirements
- You do not apply for the visa yourself. An accredited university or college sponsors your residence visa once you accept an offer, or a parent resident in the UAE can sponsor you.
- The student visa is issued for one year at a time and renewed on proof that you are still enrolled.
- Dubai's GDRFA lists the documents as a passport copy, a recent white-background photograph, an approved medical fitness examination, an Emirates ID receipt and health insurance.
- The institution must hold Ministry of Education or equivalent approval for the visa to be issued against it.
- GDRFA states a 60-day grace period to remain in the country after a residence permit expires or is cancelled.
- Outstanding students may qualify separately for a UAE Golden Visa; check the criteria rather than assuming eligibility.

Working during and after your studies
Working is not automatic with a student visa. Students aged 18 and over who are sponsored by a relative, school or university can apply to MOHRE for a student training and work permit or a part-time work permit, which requires a valid residence visa, a medical fitness certificate and, for training, a no-objection certificate from the institution. Do not build your budget around part-time earnings in Dubai.

How does the Dubai student visa work?
Unlike Europe, you do not lodge a visa application yourself. The accredited institution sponsors your residence visa once you accept your offer and pay the deposit. After arriving you complete a medical fitness test and Emirates ID biometrics. The visa runs a year at a time and renews against continued enrolment.
Will my Dubai qualification be recognised in India?
It depends entirely on the awarding body, not on the campus. A branch campus of a UK or Australian university awards that university's degree. Other Dubai providers deliver vocational qualifications such as Pearson BTEC HNDs, which are recognised but are not equivalent to a full bachelor's degree. We check the awarding body with you before you commit, and for government jobs or further study you should also confirm the position with the Association of Indian Universities.
Can I work while studying in Dubai?
Only with a permit. MOHRE issues a student training and work permit and a part-time work permit to students aged 18 and over, and both need a valid residence visa plus a medical fitness certificate. It is not granted automatically with the student visa, so do not assume part-time earnings when you budget.
What does a year in Dubai cost?
Tuition varies widely by provider: roughly AED 56,250 to 62,500 a year for an undergraduate degree at BUiD, against AED 25,000 to 40,000 for a vocational HND at GBS Dubai. Living costs run about AED 4,000 to 8,000 a month including accommodation, so the provider you choose moves the total far more than your lifestyle does.
